Election Procedures
The National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”) will conduct the vote here at Papa Haydn by United States Mail. Remember the vote is by secret ballot. Below are the details of the election:
Election Details
The NLRB will mail a ballot packet to your home address on Monday, April 20, 2026. If you do not believe Papa Haydn has your most current mailing address, you should provide an update to Brendan Gibbons at brendan@papahaydn.com.
Those eligible to vote in the election are all full time and regular part time employees, including line cooks, pastry cooks, dishwashers, delivery drivers, servers, bartenders, pastry technicians, and hosts of Papa Haydn.
If you believe you are eligible to vote but do not receive a ballot packet in the mail by Tuesday, April 28, 2026 the NLRB asks that you call their office at 503-326-3085 to request a replacement ballot.
If you want to vote, you must fill out the ballot, place it in the envelope provided, follow the instructions provided by the NLRB and return it to the NLRB office so that it is received prior to 3:00pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The NLRB will open all ballots at 3pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 and count them. The result will be determined by the majority of votes actually cast in the election.
Instructions to fill out and complete the ballot:
There should be a ballot, instructions, and blue & yellow envelopes.
Each ballot will have one question: "Do you wish to be represented for purposes of collective bargaining by Papa Haydn Workers Union?”
If you want to be represented by the union, simply place an “X” in the box labeled YES.
If you do not want to be represented by the union, simply write an “X” in the box labeled NO.
All you should do is place an “X” in the box of your choice, fold up the ballot and put it in the blue envelope.
Place the blue envelope inside the yellow envelope and seal it.
Sign the yellow envelope at the X.
Place the signed yellow envelope in the mail and return to the NLRB.
Do not write anything else on the ballot, such as your name, classification, or department. If you do write anything else on the ballot other than the “X” in the box of your choice, the NLRB will likely not count your ballot.
Please exercise your right to vote. A simple majority of those who actually vote determines the election result, either in favor of or against Papa Haydn Workers Union. Not voting does not mean a NO or a YES vote to the union; it means that your voice is not heard.
Counting the Vote: The NLRB agent will open all ballots and count them immediately following closure of the voting period on May 6, 2026. The result will be determined by the simple majority of votes actually cast in the election.
